Lafayette School Families:
We are excited to announce the Lafayette School District and the YMCA are partnering for the 2018-2019 school year. In this partnership, the YMCA will be contracted to operate the Afterschool Program for both the Elementary and Upper Schools. We feel confident that this decision will enhance the already existing afterschool program for the children, families, and the schools.
The Y understands the many demands on families; a supportive community is key to the success of families and children. The program provides a safe, structured, and fun environment for children right on the school campus. It is designed to align with the school to provide academic success in a fun, enriching environment.
The partnership will allow us to provide year-round care for our families to include summer camp and school holidays and breaks. In addition, the YMCA is planning to start providing before-care for our school in the 2018-2019 school year based on the needs of each school.
The Y-Care Program will meet your needs by providing a safe space, homework support, recreation, and enrichment for your child before and after school. The YMCA has a well-rounded curriculum that provides opportunities for your child to learn, grow, and thrive through participation in the arts, fitness, STEM, and community service projects.
Here are some additional benefits for our families:
- Extended Hours:
- Before Care: 6:00 AM until the start of school
- After Care: The end of school to 6:00 PM.
- When school is out, the Y is in! The YMCA will provide care for:
- Spring and Winter Breaks
- School holidays
- Summer vacation

- Homework Help
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Programming
- Reading Enrichment

- Y-Clubs
- The YMCA offers online registration and account management and provides financial assistance for qualifying families.
We will begin Y-Care registration for the 2018-2019 school year on May 21, 2018.
